Southwest H2O
Our innovative process can achieve up to 90% recovery rates, offering a less costly and complex alternative to traditional commercial methods for treating high silica waters.
Utilizing this core design as a blueprint, we can transition from the chemistry of the source water to a fully functional plant swiftly.
Our services encompass design, engineering, construction, start-up, and commissioning.
Southwest H2O provides both stationary and portable solutions, along with waste stream management options such as evaporation ponds and thermal treatments.
Southwest H2O is not like our large global competitors.
We offer straightforward solutions:
-
Difficult-to-treat groundwater
-
Overflowing evaporation pond
-
Reclaimable cooling blowdown
-
PFAS-contaminated groundwater
-
Mining process applications that demand high-quality reclaimed or brackish water
No matter the challenge, we're here to assist. Contact us at 602-550-5262 or inquiries@southwest-h2o.com for support.

WHAT WE DO
We provide various options to finance and operate tailored water treatment systems, such as turn-key EPC contracts, build-own-operate-transfer contracts, or build-own-operate contracts.
WHY SOUTHWEST H2O?
We are a local company that offers water treatment solutions for hard-to-treat groundwater and wastewater streams, especially those with high silica and iron/manganese content. We use a proprietary low pH membrane process combined with a filtration/oxidation step that can achieve high recovery rates and water quality.

ABOUT OUR PROCESS
-
The process is a method to treat groundwater that is high in silica and iron/manganese with chemicals, filtration/oxidation technology, and membranes: It is a novel process that can increase the silica concentration in water above saturation levels, using a specific chemistry suite, filtration/oxidation, and advanced membrane technologies.
-
The process is useful for industrial applications in water-limited regions using groundwater as the source: This process can enable the use of groundwater resources that are high in silica and otherwise unsuitable for cooling towers and membrane processes. The invention can also reduce water consumption, reclaim cooling blowdown, reduce salinity for potable water applications, and so on.
-
The invention involves pH adjustment and proprietary antiscalant: The document outlines the main components of the invention, which are: adjusting the feed pH with sulfuric acid to prevent metasilicate formation, adding a complexing agent for iron, and adding a proprietary antiscalant to control polymerization rates of colloidal silica.
-
The process prevents silica scaling by forcing silica away from forming a silicate towards silica colloid formation but not allowing it to get to the point that foul membranes due to the novel antiscalant: The mechanism is to keep silica in solution until it forms colloids on itself and is no longer reactive. The colloids are 10 nanometers in size and do not adhere to the membrane.
-
The invention has been tested in two examples of cooling tower reuse and oilfield water: The document provides two examples of the invention applied to cooling tower blowdown and oilfield produced water. The results show that the invention can achieve high recoveries and low fouling rates in both cases, with different silica concentrations and induction times.
